Community Involvement
At McDonald Eye Care Associates, we’d like to thank you for your support so we can support and give back to the Lakeville community. From the very beginning, community involvement has been at the heart of who we are—Lakeville has raised our family, and now it’s where our children are raising theirs. Supporting local schools, youth programs, teams, and organizations allows us to strengthen the community that has given so much to us.
Over the years, our team has been honored with recognition for this commitment. Dr. McDonald and Patti received the Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year award. Patti was also named Business Woman of the Year, and Dr. Molly was honored as Young Optometrist of the Year. Our practice has also been voted by the community as the Best Eye Care Practice in Lakeville—a distinction that reflects the trust and relationships we’ve built locally and beyond.
Supporting Local Schools
For more than 35 years, we’ve hosted field trips for Lake Marion Elementary, introducing children to the world of eye care in a fun and hands-on way. From trying on glasses to exploring an exam room, kids get an inside look at how vision care impacts their everyday lives. In fact, the very first field trip began when Dr. Tony and Patti’s son, Matt, was in preschool—and now Dr. Molly’s and Dr. Meg’s children have enjoyed the same experience as kindergartners!
Our involvement extends across all age levels:
Kindergarten & Day Care – Children meet a doctor, explore the exam and contact lens rooms, listen to a story from Patti, and learn about protecting their eyes. For those that remember, don’t forget to keep the soft contact lens WET!
Elementary Schools – We provide resources to students whose science fair projects focus on eyes and vision.
Middle Schools – Our doctors have have spoken at career days and even guided students through animal eye dissections for science class.
High Schools – We offer job shadowing opportunities for students interested in optometry. Our doctors also participate in career days and classroom presentations to inspire the next generation of eye care professionals.
Optometry Students – As an externship site, we proudly mentor and support optometry students as they prepare for their future careers.
General and retirement communities– Our staff and doctors have presented or participated in community events including Home, Landscape and Community Expo, Miss Lakeville, All Saints, various educational seminars, Toys for Tots and Lion’s Health Expo.

Supporting Local Athletics
We are proud sponsors of numerous athletic programs, helping to promote healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and community spirit:
Lakeville North Senior High School (Panthers): All Sports Booster Club, Girls Varsity Volleyball, Girls Varsity Hockey, Girls Varsity Gymnastics, Track and Field, Baseball, Lakeliners Dance Team, and Boys Varsity Football.
Lakeville South Senior High School (Cougars): All Sports Booster Club, Girls Varsity Volleyball, Girls Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Hockey, Girls Varsity Gymnastics, Dance Team, Boys Varsity Soccer, and Boys Varsity Football.
Building a Stronger Community
In addition to schools and athletics, we also support initiatives such Shop with a Hero, Lakeville Rotary Club, Lakeville Lions Club, Lakeville Public Safety Foundation, GiGi’s Playhouse, Ronald McDonald House, American Diabetes Association, and Jack’s Basket.
